Workshop 1

What you need to bring: yoga mat
This class explores Lacey’s
unique take on Yoga in a comprehensive and
approachable way. This class will take students
through yoga postures and asanas that are
perfect for Tribal Bellydancers. The class ends
with Lacey taking students gently through
technique that directly relates to the Yoga
postures in class so that students can
experience movement from this relaxed and open
state.
Workshop 2

"Breaking down and building up Tribal African Fusion: Stretch yourself before you wreck yourself!"
with Na'la

Class type: Dance Technique, Combos, and
Stretching
What you need to bring: yoga mat,
hoodie, water and a sense of adventure!
In this fun and challenging workshop you
will be taught the basics of Tribal African
Fusion: from low grounding moves to
uplifting freeing moves that show you how to
defy gravity. Tribal Belly Dance is known
for it’s upright posture, it’s use of core
muscles to control movement and it’s lifted
arm postures. West African dance is known
for it’s delicious arm extension and large,
powerful movements, it’s use of core
strength, as well as it’s low grounding
release to the earth.
In this workshop, Na’la will break these
movements down into digestible steps that
any belly dancer can absorb. She
will walk you through a handful of essential
stretches (please bring a yoga mat) that
open up the front of the body (heart center)
as well as open up and relax the hips/pelvic
region and lower back. These stretches will
be relaxed, static, and appropriate for all
levels and all types of dance.
We will then
focus on how to access your existing core
stretch, as well as add some tools to your
tool box on building more core stretch
safely, consistently and with proper body
alignment. We will take our practice from
the mat to our feet, and go through some
essential Tribal African moves, which will
be tied together in a short combination.
This is a great way to get get acquainted
with Tribal African Fusion!

This fun class blurs the lines of Tribal
Fusion and Tribal Improv by creating
combos that are perfect for the Fusion
soloist & Group Improv dancer alike!
We’ll go over a few fun combinations and
show how they can intermingle in all
styles. Lacey will demonstrate how these
combinations can weave into improv or
choreography to help students feel
flexible with the technique. Then we’ll
throw on our zills to kick it up a
notch!

"Tribal African Fusion for ATS and ITS dancers"

Class Type: Dance technique and
combos, some counter stretching
What you need to bring: Water,
dance shoes (optional), and your sense
of adventure
Meet the demands of fast, powerful drum
rhythms with more than a shimmy! Learn
the extension, power, and speed of
Tribal African Fusion as you soar,
stretch, and fling with your
troupe-mates.
Blending basics and combos
from ATS, we will add on to your
improvisational repertoire with 2
non-stop Tribal African combos.
Leave
your notebooks and pencils behind! Each
student will receive a link for a video
that will show Na’la and Shakra
demonstrating the combos. Add some high
energy Tribal African flair to your
performance and practice!
Please note: We will
explore many types of music in this
class, from traditional African drum
rhythms, to electronic pop, rock and hip
hop… all with beats that inspire one to
dance.

"Back to the Earth: Tribal African Circle Dance"

Class type: Moving mediation,

What you need to bring: yoga mat,
a blanket, an open mind and an open
heart
Take a vacation from the city and modern
world without leaving town!
After a deep relaxation and centering we
will find an ancient and primal groove
through moving meditation and relaxed
dancing, all to tribal drums. Then we
will learn a few simple dance combos
that will allow us to focus on our
bodies, the music, our emotions and each
other. Come join this safe woman’s
circle where all emotions are welcome!
