Who
the heck is Beachcombers Bazaar?
That's us, to the right. I'm Jody, and the
good lookin'
man putting henna on my arm is the other
half of Beachcombers, Asad.
Beachcombers has been online selling Indian ethnic
women's accessories since 2002. We began
selling part-time on eBay and then opened
the website,
www.ShopBeachcombers.com, in 2004 (the year of
the hurricanes!) when we moved
from Ohio to Orlando Florida and turned the
business into a full time venture. In 2008, we opened a retail
store in the College Park Shopping District just outside of downtown
Orlando. Then in 2013 we bought our own
building in Orlando!
It's been quite a ride, this business adventure of
ours!
About Jody
I have the best job in the world! Heck, I
design and sell shoes for a living, lol! What
girl wouldn't love my job? I work
directly with our suppliers to design our shoes,
bangles, and bangle stands. Our suppliers are
all family businesses too, so that gives us the
flexibility we need to keep quality up and customize
our designs based on customer needs. It also
allows us to support small local communities instead
of big factories, a cause very dear to us. For
more information about our suppliers be sure to
visit our Products Page.
I also write all our instructions for our products.
I was introduced to all these fabulous ethnic items
by my other half Asad but, I was clueless about them
at first.
Being a man, Asad didn't know how to put on glass
bangles properly or how to break in khussa shoes. I
had to ask many questions from ethnic women and
learn by trial and error. I don't want to even
think of how little I knew about henna! These
experiences inspired me to write very clear
instructions for all our items so that anyone (even
Americans like myself) could use our items like a
native and be comfortable doing it.
This is also why I offer so much henna tattoo
information. Everyone can enjoy henna and
anyone can learn to do henna! In addition to
all of our great henna kits (which I personally
select the items in our henna kits), quality henna
products & eBooks, I also offer henna workshops
throughout the year. Learn more about our
henna classes and
mehndi workshops.
About Asad
Asad studied computers in school, but found he much
preferred selling online to trouble-shooting
computer gremlins. He discovered eBay back in
2001 and was instantly hooked. Before I knew
it, our house was bare of any unused items, and so was
our parent's houses! That's how we started
selling ethnic items online, and Asad had the
foresight to see the possibilities of creating a
business. Asad's lovely and fashionable mom had to go to Pakistan for
a wedding, so we decided to give her some money with
a list of things to buy, as a test, to see if we
could make a business selling the items I had come
to love. Well, things worked out and the rest
is history!
Asad is an accomplished handyman and thanks to him,
we were able to remodel our College Park store,
completely on our own. From installing new
flooring to an entire new ceiling, Asad is the
genius behind the reality of our fabulous store!

Most
Creative Storefront Award
We are very proud to have been awarded the
Marketworks "Most Creative Storefront" award for our
website design. This award was very special
award to me, since I designed the web store, and when
I began, I couldn't spell HTML!
It was quite a challenge for me. I wanted the
store to be very visual, fun, and easy to navigate.
I used as many customer suggestions and requests as
I was able to.
